M-D2 proudly announces; P2L is getting closer to an acceleration in the global arena. We are taking firm steps with P2L towards EU Market access.
The P2L project focuses on the efficient recycling of PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) waste, transforming it into high-quality methyl methacrylate (MMA). This innovative approach addresses critical environmental concerns related to waste management while contributing to the circular economy. Our project embodies a unique opportunity to transform linear economic practices into a circular economy. By focusing on waste recovery directly from PMMA manufacturers, we aim to create a seamless supply chain. This approach ensures that PMMA waste is efficiently recycled back into its original raw material, monomer. P2L technology serves as an efficient and sustainable business model.
The P2L journey started with R&D studies in 2017 and was supported by local public grants from TÜBİTAK. Prototypes, pilot plants, patent applications, feasibility studies, industrial scale-ups, and a commercial recycling plant followed over the years. The innovation behind P2L technology, the global market demand, and both the public grants previously received by the European Commission and TÜBİTAK with two Seal of Excellence labels in this period encouraged us to move forward and start up the market expansion globally.
M-D2 applied to the #EICAccelerator grant’s Step 1 application with P2L, an innovative acrylic recycling plant commercialization project. At the end of 2023, P2L got a green light (Go) from each one of the 4 evaluators for the Step 2 application. Now, we are preparing a proposal for the initial international commercialization plan by establishing the first P2L plant in the EU, which will accelerate the market access of this environmentally friendly, innovative technology.
Our motivation is simple – a sustainable tomorrow. We see P2L as the catalyst for a global shift towards circular economies. We are excited about the prospects of P2L and look forward to #EISMEA’s support in making this vision a reality.
